The Yoyo, also commonly spelt 'Yo-yo' or 'Yoyo, ' is a skill toy that consists of two disks connected to an axel. A string will be wrapped around the axel. A slip knot will normally be made on the end of the string that is not wrapped around the axel, this is known as the 'handle.' A player will normally insert their middle finger (although any finger will work) into the slipknot's loop. The Yoyo is played with by allowing gravity (or the force of a throw + gravity) to pull the Yoyo downwards. The Yoyo's two disks will spin in unison on the axel and will unwind the string. The player will then gently tug on the handle to reverse the rotational momentum - this will cause the Yoyo to retract along the string and return to the player's hand. This act is often called 'Yoyoing.'
