Ontonagon Michigan was a community of immigrants in Michigan's upper peninsula.Like many families there, our Finnish family lived a humble life. The Great Depression put even more strain on the local economy, but families worked hard, survived and even prospers. Uncle Ed has recounted stories of the men who logged the forests, snow drifts that covered houses and what it sounded like when a young boy threw a handful of .22 caliber bullets into the school's pot-belly stove. He describes tractors made from cars, driving a Model T to Detroit and taking the ferry across to Mackinac, and what impressions a young man got from sneaking into the Dance Hall. The stories are remembered with Uncle Ed's big smile
