1998 is going down in history as Jesse Stapleton's best year. She has an incredible CD collection, her wardrobe is always spot-on, and she attends summer classes at a nearby junior college with her best friends. Soon, she will be attending her sister's wedding. The life of Sager, Louisiana, could not be more perfect, except Jesse is being haunted.
Every night, Jesse tries to record as many incidents as possible. From the footsteps in the hallway when no one is there, the hugging cold spots she walks through, and the nagging feeling when she knows something is in her room, watching her and breathing down her neck.
Unfortunately, Jesse never finds out who or what they want because she lives on a never-ending Groundhog Day.
But something is shifting. And little things begin to change, causing her to consult with the local Dream Reader.
Jesse tells her about the nightmares she has been having, and she finally learns the truth: Jesse is dead and being haunted by the living.
But something greater stirs in Sager. Now, Jesse must become the ghost she is and save Tatum McKenna, the living entity in her house, in 2024.
Then a monstrous and unsettling voice calls them by name.
