A catalogue of lives, of women both agreeable and terrible, pathetic, and admirable, broken and triumphant. Unique women with fascinating lives.
By the winner of Spain's National Literature Award.
"This book compiles an expanded version of the biographies of women that I published in the Sunday supplement of El Pas. I don't really know how to define these works: although they are very well documented, they are neither academic biographies nor journalistic articles, but rather are impassioned, personal texts. They are stories of unique women whom I tried to understand. Some are generous while others are evil, cowardly or brave, turbulent or timid; all of them, however, are very original and some seem astonishing due to their extraordinary circumstances. But I believe that, no matter how odd they seem, we can always recognize ourselves in them. Each one of us holds inside us the lives of all others." -Rosa Montero
