Based on her own activism in the Gandhi International Institute of Peace and Mediators Beyond Borders this book applied her Program on Negotiation participant training at Harvard Law School Negotiation Principles of Mediation to 9/11, Kent State University killings, Croatia-Bosnia, Cambodia, Immigration and orphan issues and todays Racial, Sex discrimination, Ethnic and Socioeconomic Class Injustices. PTSD and moral guilt in soldiers is addressed through her own clinical work and review of scientific journals. The use of mindfulness, meditation and spirituality in their own clinical or legal work are used throughout as ways of helping individuals cope with traumatic experiences . But the emphasis is on empirically sound therapeutic approaches to resolving posttraumatic stress, anxiety, depression and secondary effects of injury to brain or body. Family interaction and training of practitioners, teachers, mediators, ministers and others is considerably important and addressed directly. Native Hawaiian and other minority cultural issues as they influence adjustment are explored. The ability to teach comes from years at the University level across East Coast. Midwest and invited lectures in Italy, France, the United Kingdom and several countries in SE Asia including Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, and India. Mediation skills are employed with legal assistance in resolving conflicts and avoiding litigation in multiple situations involving employment, living conditions, religious and racial freedom. She worked with SNCC, BLM, MBBI and many other groups to learn collaborative problem-solving.
