Polvorones with Lola and Luna is part of one of my favorite family traditions. My Puerto Rican mom use to make endless batches of these delicious cookies and put them in empty green Export Sodas crackers cans. I always looked forward to making them with her because it gave us time to talk and spend time together. My favorite part would be poking the hole in the middle, and then adding sprinkles. I also preferred them extra almondly. The scent of the polvornes would bring a comforting aroma all over our little Bronx apartment. It was a true holiday tradition in every sense.
It's been pure orgulo and joy to pass down this tradition to my children and now my grandchildren. In changing times it's beautiful to know that we can hold on to traditions that not only create time together but that we can pass down to our loved ones.
Christmas is always extra special with polvorones!
My wish is that this could bring a little more tradition and love into your family.
