The Peace of Mind Core Curriculum for Early Childhood teaches mindfulness, empathy and foundational conflict resolution strategies while guiding the youngest students into the rhythms of school. This curriculum prepares the youngest students to learn how to focus their attention, self-regulate, build healthy relationships, and become peacemakers. The curriculum fits easily into the school week with modest preparation and offers ample teacher guidance.
The goals of Peace of Mind Core Curriculum for Early Childhood are simple but profound:
- Establish basic foundational mindfulness skills that can develop into a life-long practice.
- Introduce key concepts for positive social and emotional growth, including working in groups and resolving conflicts.
- Nurture the innate kindness and acceptance in each child to help create a kinder and more inclusive culture in each classroom and school.
The Peace of Mind Core Curriculum for Early Childhood includes 32 scripted, sequential, weekly lessons, and may be used by a classroom teacher or a specials teacher. Each lesson offers extensions and optional storybooks and videos. All handouts are included, along with helpful teacher guidance throughout. Lessons begin with Mindfulness practice, which serves as a powerful foundation for engaging and varied social and emotional learning lessons that follow. The Peace of Mind Program is research based and extensively classroom-tested.
