Moving On, J.L Caban's inaugural novella, is a quintessential coming of age story that takes
place in the early 1990s in New York City, in which a troubled eighteen year old young man,
beset by a plethora of problems, named Justin Christianson, breaks free from the bleak and
downtrodden world of drugs and alcohol, attempting, with every fiber of his being, to make a
better life for himself. With the help of his friends and family members - although not initially
realizing their value - he initially begins to successfully climb the proverbial rungs of the ladder
to this new life of achievement, prosperity, and hope; however, his life's trials, tribulations and
extreme self-doubt - about himself and the world around him - intervene, sending Justin into a
whirlwind of confusion, insecurity and, ultimately, a relapse into utter despair. Will he be able to
lift himself back up and rise to the challenges put forth to him or will he falter and regress into
despondency? Follow Justin on his personal journey as he endeavors, like all adolescents before
him - as well as all of those yet to come - to solve the enigma of his little world and finally move
on to a better and brighter future.
