Suggested Classroom Learning Tool: Early childhood &/or early primary teachers
might purchase an extra paperback copy and slice off the book binder edge or carefully tear out each inside page to;
1. Allow each student to trace a given page letter and color that page as so desired.
2. (An Opt. Class learning activity towards beginning kindergarten or 1st grade year), each child might hold up their finished learning train sheet (as in a large circle) and cite that letter name, letter sound and the short phrase just above each train car by a letter picture (Ex. Angel - A, Apple - a: short a sound). Students might need a little teacher assistance, but such becomes a personalized, rewarding and cooperative learning experience.
3. Teacher then collects each completed sheet and arranges in alphabetical sequence to..
4. Assemble an A to Z Learning Train Banner
5. by scotch taping each horizontally sequenced train car as an introductory
Letter Name and Letter Sound banner (approx. 24 ft. long...,11" x 26 train cars),
6. that can then be tape-mounted on a front or side classroom wall (or 2 rows 12 ft long A-M and N-Z) as an on-going pre-phonics verbal learning display tool.
Of course, each child will become more proficient in developing Letter-sound skills
by owning a paperback copy of The Learning Train, whether within or outside
a classroom context.
Note: Step 2 may be an omitted leaning activity where the teacher might collect each completed sheet and assemble apart from a cooperative learning activity.
Yet most children love to own their own work and progress along with learning to work as a team, appreciating other's contributions.
