"What if my men?" Walter asked, brushing off Andrew's threat,

"Your men," Andrew said thoughtfully. "Your men have likely met their demise by now. My people ambushed them as they waited to ambush us. Ironic, is it not? And now, our game of chase shall come to an end. This business of the Heir of Dufay shall come to an end. Gallard shall waste his remaining days, however many they may be, chasing that which he will never attain, that to which he has no right. The name Dufay shall fade into history once again, as it did so long ago."

"Then let us end this game here and now," Walter said confidently as he dropped the DuFay Sword and withdrew his own from its sheath. "Your very name has become vile to me, and I shall take immense joy in ridding the earth of it."

Instead of charging violently, Walter slowly circled around his campfire and Andrew did likewise, keeping the fire between them as the two men sized each other up one last time. Their last fight, nearly six years ago, proved them to be all but equals when it came to one-on-one combat. But tonight, one of them would prove to be more than the other's equal.
