The holidays are approaching the small town of Jewel, and school is going swimmingly -- as it should in the constant Oregon rain. Danielle Baker is preparing an extravagant American Thanksgiving dinner for British Detective Nigel Hawksworth, here in the US on a job exchange. Danielle's friend, Peggy Sue, proudly declares her daughter's intelligence when Sue Ellen discovers embezzlement at the RV manufacturing plant in Harrisburg, where she works. But pride turns to fear when the VP is discovered murdered, and Sue Ellen's boyfriend is taken into custody. Peggy Sue demands, begs, and pleads for Danielle and Natalie's help.
"Haven't y'all ever heard of secondary insurance?" she asks.
Just three days before Thanksgiving, Danielle's daughter, Hannah, comes home from school and announces she isn't going back. Before Danielle can respond, Nigel bursts through the front door and asks, "How quickly can you leave town?"
Peggy Sue's happiness is in danger. Sue Ellen's future is in danger. And with someone following them, Danielle and Natalie are, themselves, in danger.
