When a rainy Alabama day keeps two girls inside, an army blanket and a little imagination convert their tiny trailer home into a wonderland full of surprises. The Giant Pickle has a 551-word count and is written for children ages 3- 8 years. The Giant Pickle begins by looking at all the places my sister and I had to play outside. We had a tire swing, trees to climb, and even a musty cellar to explore. When a rainy day keeps us from playing outside, we look for a game to play inside our tiny home. Once my dad's old army blanket is discovered, we create the giant pickle (a fort made using the air vents in the living room). The giant pickle makes everything more fun, and if he promises to do exactly what we say, we let our little brother Jon play too.

The trailer featured in this story is a beautiful vintage silver Spartan. There is tremendous interest in trailer life and vintage trailers as more and more families venture into the world of tiny homes. Yet virtually no children's books are written about families living in trailers. The illustrator did an outstanding job creating 15 illustrations and cover to go along with the text for this book. The exterior and interior illustrations are true to the silver Spartan I lived in as a child. The breathtaking illustrations are created in a watercolor style.
