After his military service, Nettles was appointed to leadership position on the heels of a scandal. He served as the Executive Director of the third-largest state law enforcement agency in Texas (the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission, or TABC) for five years, creating transformation around public policy, fighting human trafficking, and helping thousands of small business leaders across the state.
Nettles was asked to bring the TABC back to excellence, and he delivered - because of the dedicated team and external resources that supported his vision. Discover how his approach to service created an atmosphere of collaboration and engagement, all around a model for creating excellence.
An attorney by training, Nettles served as General Counsel for the Army Element Joint Force Headquarters. He continues to advocate for those in service, particularly in front of the Veterans Administration. A dedicated public servant, Nettles co-founded Brazos Valley Cares, a non-profit group dedicated to serving military veterans and their families. He has served as Chairman of the local energy cooperative, the Bryan Texas Utility Board.
