In 2014, our church worked through the New City Catechism. Each work I wrote a devotion based on the Scripture text for the week to help meditate and clarify the truth expounded in the text. The goal was for each family to read the devotion together during the week and to practice memorizing the catechism question. I would love to share our experience as a church body with those of you holding this book. There is a short devotion followed by memory work for each week including a Bible verse, Bible knowledge and a catechism question. I decided to use the New City Catechism because it is broken down to 52 weeks which makes it perfect for a family devotion. It also has online resources at www.newcitycatechism.com as well as an Ipad app to help provide additional background information. (The "A" under the stands for the adult version while the "C" stands for the child's version. Use whichever you think is best for your family.) My prayer is that using this systematic devotional your family will grow in their understanding the basics of the Christian faith and the regular discipline of family devotions and memorization will bear spiritual fruit for years to come.
