When Felicity Blackburn meets Max Fitzroy at the Steventon assembly she's not impressed. While his friend Evan Pringle charms the ladies, including her sister Harriet, stony-faced Max refuses to dance and doesn't have a good word to say about anyone, least of all high-spirited Felicity.
Felicity resolves to avoid grumpy Max, yet after several run-ins, including an embarrassing encounter at the local lake, she can't seem to stop thinking about him.
Despite their ensuing attraction (and Max's attempts at flirting), Felicity grows ever more confused about his intentions. She also has another problem - an insidious clergyman cousin who's invited himself to stay and insists on wooing her with terrible poetry.
Fortunately, her good friend Jane Austen is on hand with kind and sympathetic counsel. But when Felicity stumbles upon a story Jane's secretly writing, she recognises herself as one of the main characters!
With her drama fueling Jane's creativity, Max allegedly in pursuit of another woman, and a proposal hanging over her head from decidedly the WRONG man - can Felicity sort out the romantic tangle before it's too late? Or will Jane's story have a happier ending than her own?
A gorgeously funny, lighthearted Pride and Prejudice variation that reimagines the events that inspired Jane Austen to write Lizzy and Mr Darcy's story. If you like feisty heroines, brooding heroes and laugh out loud humour, you'll fall in love with this heartwarming historical romcom - fan fluttering twists and turns guaranteed!
