This book is aimed at patients with early stage dementia who like reading but find it hard to follow 'normal' books. It has 46 pages of black and white pictures of 1940s women's fashions, with brief captions in large (18 point) print, the size recommended by the Royal National National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). Studies have shown that 'reminiscence therapy' can be helpful to those with dementia, particularly when they recall the surroundings of their youth and early middle age. This book is intended to help stimulate such memories and when read together with a relative or carer, it can also help promote conversation and social interaction. The book does not mention dementiaor memory loss, or anything that could cause distress or embarrassment to patients. It can equally be enjoyed by those without memory loss, for example, grandparents reading together with grandchildren.
