Despite the limitations imposed on the sales of Cuban items on online platforms like eBay, many collectors worldwide feel increasingly attracted to the coins and bank notes of the Caribbean island. These numismatic goods are mostly sold and purchased in the United States, owing to the large Cuban community residing there and its wish to preserve a part of the history of their ancestors’ land. But Cuban notes and coins are also hoarded by those numismatists who form collections by mint and/or designer. Let’s not forget that until 1960, all the Cuban currency was produced outside the country, mainly in the United States. In fact, the first national coins were minted in 1915 at the Philadelphia Mint following the design of its Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber.
