Detective Petra Moore had anticipateding more exciting than cake, ice cream and possibly a retirement announcenouncement when she attended Claude Pinkerton’s 65th birthday party during her lunch break. She’d eaten plenty of donuts at Pinkerton’s shop, noth- The Sweets Spot, over the years, and expected the cake to be just as delicious.
Unfortunately, she never got to taste it.
Immediately after eating his first bite of cake and receiving a big kiss on the lips from his wife, Claude gasped for breath and clutched his throat.
As he collapsed on the floor, his business partner, Milo Dodd, yelled, “He’s having an allergic reaction!”
But by the time Dodd located the older man’s medication in the kitchen and thrust the injector into his thigh, he was dead.
