A long journey to equality

My great aunt Winifred never married, as she lost her sweetheart in World War One, as did so many other potential partners. However, she must have been a bright woman because she became an accountant, working for the big firm of auditors Cooper Brothers. Unfortunately, though, lots of their clients didn’t take kindly to a woman coming in to go through their books, so Winnie had to be content with doing the Coopers’ own accounts instead, until she retired. Luckily, things have changed since her day, and an expectation that most jobs are gender-specific is long gone. Have a look at page 20 for some inspiring examples.
