‘I switch off from all life’s stresses’

JULIE CONVERY, 55, is a jewellery designer who lives in Coggeshall, Essex. She and her husband Gavin have two daughters, Orla, 21, and Esme, 16, and a Bichon Frise called Mabel. Mabel came into our family eight years ago as a gift from my dad and stepmum. She’s a lovely little friend and I adore our walks – there’s a mindfulness about strolling along with a dog. It’s so calming. I switch off from all life’s stresses and just focus on how pleasurable it is for her and me. Naturally, I have got to know all the other local “dog people” too.
