Fact! Certain people do seem to attract more mosquito bites than others, and there are multiple reasons why this may be the case. People with the blood group type O attract more mosquitoes. This was shown in the 1970s, when scientists deliberately exposed volunteers to mosquitoes and then tested their blood groups.
It may be some people secrete blood type markers onto their skin and the mosquitoes detect these, though why they seem to prefer type O blood is not known. Mosquitoes can also scent compounds found in sweat and in your breath, such as carbon dioxide or alcohol if you’ve been drinking, and can follow the scent trail to you. They are also heat sensing, so the sweatier you are, the more attractive you will be!
