Full marks for originality. Putting the disparate genres of Metroidvania and bullet-hell shooter together in one game is an inspired choice, and in motion, The Knight Witch can look nothing short of spectacular. Glowing bullets fill the screen with a riot of colour, spiralling out in all directions, while you cast kinetic spells that conjure giant swords from thin air, or send a giant ball and chain barrelling outwards. It’s a trip. But a rocky one, at times. The game starts astonishingly badly.
