Dr. D. D. Jines, II is a Baby Boomer living with ALS who has spent a lifetime setting goals and living the best life he can no matter the circumstances. He has degrees in dentistry and medicine and was a clinical instructor of surgery at St. Louis University School of Medicine, and maintains a private dental practice concentrating on oral medicine and is a pioneer in the dental treatment of HIV/AIDS patients in the St. Louis area. He is ordained and still performs weddings and veteran funerals. He was a US Navy Officer and firearms instructor and earned a pilots license along with a martial arts black belt and later became a police officer and firearms trainer retiring from patrol duties after 23 years. He is a chapter president of a motorcycle club. He is more importantly a father and grandfather and tells the story of how a devastating diagnosis of ALS and then cancer has strengthened his resolve to LIVE in the present through Faith, Science and doing what he Loves. Life is too short to be wasted with regrets. Living is a CHOICE. Since his diagnosis and subsequent retirement he mentors and contributes to clinical websites, makes clinical teaching videos and rides across the fruited plains visiting friends, family and loved ones.
