In his debut novel, Out With The Tide, Paul Ehrenreich introduced the Crosley family of Truro, Massachusetts, and the Dorothy Bradford Society, a group of local women who believe that Katie Crosley is actually Dorothy Bradford, the Pilgrim who fell from the Mayflower in 1620 and allegedly drowned in Cape Cod Bay. In Waking Dorothy Bradford Katie has been installed as the new president of the society following the jailing of its founder on drug charges. She steadies the organization and opens a new Dorothy Bradford House to serve women in need. Katie finds strength in playing her role as Dorothy Bradford, but when a notorious drug dealer, thought to be dead, returns to Truro and preys on some of the former addicts living in the Bradford House, she must summon abilities that she didn't know she possessed.
