In Afrika werden Kinder gegen Malaria geimpft – im Rahmen einer Studie, die erste Erfolge zeigt

Mit anderen Frauen ihres Dorfes ist sie gekommen, um an einer Pilotstudie der WHO teilzunehmen, in deren Rahmen Kinder Mosquirix erhalten – einen Impfstoff gegen Malaria. Die von Mücken übertragene Krankheit ist eine der größten Bedrohungen für die Bevölkerung Afrikas. Sie tötet jährlich etwa 400 000 Menschen, 280 000 davon sind jünger als fünf Jahre. Die Pilotstudie ist nun die große Hoffnung. Sie läuft seit 2019 in Kenia, Ghana und Malawi, wo mehr als eine Million Kinder gegen Malaria geimpft werden.
