Across the UK, one of the most beloved Friday night takeout cuisines is, without a doubt, Chinese. Growing up, I sat down in front of the TV every weekend and gobbled up a feast of kung pao chicken, special fried rice, sweet and sour shrimp, and prawn crackers. In my early 20s, after I decided to go vegan, I thought my indulgent evenings filled with Chinese food were destined to live on only in memory. But then, in January 2022, I found North London’s Vegan Planet, a plant-based Chinese restaurant nestled on Camden Town’s Parkway.
