FRESH CHALLENGES FOR JOHAN Former South African white-ball captain Johan Botha has major challenges in lifting Queensland cricket after a poor summer in 2023-24 which saw the Bulls finish last in the Shield and fifth in the Marsh Cup. Botha, 42, has a three-year contract and replaces Wade Seccombe who had six seasons as dual coach of the Bulls and the Brisbane Heat. Botha’s experience as an ex-international and his years downunder – he became an Australian citizen in 2016 – were pivotal in his appointment. The much-travelled off-spinner played with three BBL clubs and also captained South Australia at Sheffield Shield level.
