Stitched on 14-count white aida, this holly cushion contains some fractional stitches, but it’s the backstitching which brings this design alive. Our top tip: usually you’d do all the cross stitch then add backstitch at the end, but with this design where the backstitch forms the body of the piece, it will be important to start in the centre with this and just work those cross stitched parts when you come to them. You’ll be sure to enjoy the monochrome variety of greens plus a pop of red – only eight shades altogether for wow-factor and glittering gold thread adds some shine too.
