’n Vriendin van my, ’n kunstenaar wat aan ’n belangrike uitstalling werk, raak uit die bloute bekommerd en benoud oor al die werk moet sy nog moet doen. Maar ek weet sommer: Dit gaan nie eintlik oor die werk wat moet klaarkom nie. Soos alle super-begaafde mense twyfel sy skielik aan haarself. Gaan ek nie die galery teleurstel nie? Gaan ek mysélf teleurstel? Kán ek dit doen? Dit voel vir my asof alles wat ek skilder ouderwets en onvanpas is. Hét ek as kunstenaar nog iets te sê? vra sy. “Kom saam met my,” sê ek vir haar. “Gee my drie dae van jou lewe.” “Wat wil jy met my doen?” vra sy agterdogtig. “Ek gaan help dat jy jou kop oopkry.” Ek lag ’n bietjie vir my talentvolle vriendin, want ek verstaan baie…
