Life can get so busy and stressful at times. There are those days we just don't have enough time to finish what we need to do. And even though there are 1440 minutes each day, the world and all its demands has a way to somehow crowd out the most important part, our quiet time with God. One of the best places to enjoy a quiet & undisturbed time with God is when you are in the woods sitting in your hunting stand or on the water fishing. There, in the great outdoors, enjoying the awesome creation that God has blessed us with, you can sense the Lord calling to you: "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). It reminds me of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, when he was on the run and God asked him what he was doing dwelling in a cave. And after Elijah answers the Lord we see how the Lord responds back to him: (1 Kings 19:11-12) The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountain apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the Earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. After the fire came a gentle whisper. What an amazing experience Elijah had while on the mountain, in God's presence. I'm sure we've all witnessed & experienced some things in the outdoors that we treasure. I know I have. Those of us that enjoy all the glory and mystery of the outdoors, are so blessed to witness and experience all the wonders of our Creator each time we venture into His creation. One of the most blessed places to listen for that "still small voice" of God is while we are enjoying the outdoors like Elijah was. This awesome daily devotional written by Dean Hulce: "Trophies Of Grace", is a wonderful and encouraging book filled with real life experiences as they relate to scripture. It is a powerful daily devotional that I know God will use to speak to your heart and bless your life, whether you enjoy the outdoors or not. God bless.
