LIVING AS MY AUTHENTIC SELF

First of all, my name is Leona Slack once known as Paul Slack. I’m now 51 years of age and from Mansfield Nottinghamshire. I knew I was in the wrong body when I was 5 or 6 years old only wanting to play with the girls at home or sit with the girls in class at school. I was so confused about my gender I’ll never forget it. I even can’t forget myself comparing my girly legs and feminine body-structure to my girl class-friends, and I was jealous… they were actually real girls and I wasn’t.

Let’s jump back a few years though In my teens I tried to hide my gender dysphoria in the hope it was just a phase I was going through and maybe I could forget everything about ‘being’ a girl. I decided to seek true love. I actually had more beautiful girlfriends than any of my friends - who were jealous of how I did it so easily. At 19 years old I got married, but at 25 that came to an end after she realised my inner feelings and feminine nature although I think she knew that from the beginning of our relationship.
