Cecilia Gentili Obituary

Cecilia Gentili, trans music-teacher, sex worker, recovered addict, relentless activist, business owner, advocate, author, performer, actress, and mother to the community, was put to rest on Valentine’s Day 2024 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in in New York City. The feeling of loss is still so ever as pervasive, but what glory to see her life celebrated by so many. Her legacy and life honoured in love, by love, with love. It may seem iconoclastic that her service was held at such an institution of faith where our community may not have always felt welcomed. At a place where Act Up threw condoms and protested Cardinal O’Connors’ Sunday mass in 1989 due to his opposition to teaching safe sex in schools and condom distributions at the height of the AIDS epidemic.…
