CLIMB A STAR OF THIS ISSUE P32 The scramble up Tryfan’s north ridge is a rite of passage for mountain lovers, and brings you face-to-face with this iconic Eryri landmark You don’t so much ‘walk’ the north ridge of Tryfan as climb it; nearly all of it is a scramble. And despite appearing like an obvious ridgeline when seen on the approach along the Ogwen Valley, it’s a bit of a maze. The route starts beside Llyn Ogwen, kinks below Milestone Buttress, then climbs to the start of the north ridge itself. From here it ascends over broken, scrambly rock, past the unmistakable barrel of the Cannon Stone, and onwards and upwards to the summit, where the twin monoliths of Adam and Eve await.
