There is no right of way in the MacGillycuddy Reeks, as it is all privately owned. However, apart from NO DOGS, there are no access issues on well-trodden paths. Local guides’ best advice is to be seen to respect the landowners. Problems are caused by the usual issues of path maintenance, livestock, litter, damage to fences etc. If heading off somewhere you’re not sure of, ask anyone that’s around or knock on the door of the nearest house to the access and ask if they think it’s OK. It’s a good idea to hire a qualified guide when first visiting, to give you advice on the local area.
