Alpine Forget-Me-Not (Myosotis alpestris) At sea-level, the Forget-Me-Not is a common little flower sweeping across the ground in a tide of pale blue (above left). The alpine species looks very similar, forming a blue haze over cliffs and ledges from June to July. Moss Campion (Silene acaulis) As you might guess from the name, this pretty little plant grows in dense mossy-looking mats or cushions only about 5cm high. From May-June it blooms with masses of pink five-petalled flowers (above right). Snow Gentian (Gentiana nivalis) The snow gentian’s small brilliant blue flowers only open when the sun comes out and the temperature hits 10˚C or warmer.
