WA GOVERNMENT CONTRACT FOR REGIONAL BUILDER

Albany, WA-based boatbuilder Westerberg Marine has secured a new contract with a state government agency. The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions has ordered a 10.5m rigid inflatable boat for use in the parks and wildlife sector. Westerberg Marine has been involved in the construction and repair of aluminium boats since 1976. It was acquired by current owner and managing director Rhys Jones – a former apprentice at the company – in 2014. The design of the outboard-powered vessel is being provided by Perth-based company Alpha 1 RIBs. Established as MSJ Marine three years ago, the company adopted the new name as well as undergoing changes to share structure, office holders, and place of business in May 2021.
