I always aim to piece the backing for my quilts because, as Caroline says, it’s a good way to cull your stash, but it also gives wonderful freedom to play and have fun, especially after the discipline of accurate piecing of the top – which I do enjoy! This quilt came from a workshop with quilter and teacher Gwenfai Rees Griffiths. Or, rather, it didn’t, as Gwenfai was prevented from joining us as she was not allowed beyond her farm gate – behind which were hundreds of cattle and sheep needing protection…
