HAND-PIECING PROJECT BEHIND THE QUILT STASHBUSTING STARS “This scrappy quilt block is a traditional block known as Grandmother’s Prize. The original design only had coloured scraps as the centre star in the block. The corner pieces were cream, but I soon realised that if I went down that route, I would not be making much of a dent in my scrap pile! “The nice thing about this quilt is that although the blocks themselves are lovely, when they join a secondary design appears. The stars become linked with the secondary stars. You can play about with fabric placement, perhaps making the centre stars from one print and the framed corner stars from another.
