Sarah Ashford chats to Tandem Quilting Company Founder Elizabeth Beck and learns about her mission to find refugees work that uses their craft skills

MAKER’S GUIDE Last year when I was researching textile-related social enterprises, I came across the Tandem Quilting Company – an organisation that supports and gives work to refugees in America. I was interested and keen to find out more. I quickly realised that they were based in Clarkston, Georgia, which is just outside Atlanta, and I had recently booked a flight to attend QuiltCon in Atlanta in February 2023! It was one of those very happy coincidences that I would be in the right place at the right time and I knew that I had to meet up with the inspirational founder, Elizabeth Beck.
