2nd Tryon Militia, Colonel Jacob Klock's Regiment has never had its story told before. The story is told through various methods, the people the Regiment protected, the battles and raids the Regiment fought in, the men who served, the Loyalists, and places of importance. Thousands of names of the Militia and local people are included in the story along with marvelous stories about the people, and families. The book has some of the pension applications of the veterans with their story told in their own words. There were 308 battles fought in the Revolution, 92 of them in New York and most of the New York battles were fought in Tryon County. Because of Sir John Johnson, Walter N. Butler, and Joseph Brant, all local men, the area suffered more than any other area. Before the war started, there were 10,000 people in the area and after the war, there were just 3,000. A Time of Terror will give you an appreciation for the struggles to gain our freedom. The book is intended to be easy reading to those who have limited knowledge of the war and the area.
