Ravenlough remains in danger. Devin realizes she will not be able to keep Bram's men at bay on her own. Upon Oran's pained urging she reluctantly lets Tristan go to create an alliance with a stronger house, and agrees to marry the ambitious Marcas, a charismatic man who is not as he seems. In his anger and despair, Tristan leaves to forge his own path at the palace of the high-king, Aedh. Devin is heartbroken, but resigned that it is the only way to protect her people and rid the land of her enemies.
Distance grows between Devin and Una. Una, craving more power, will stop at nothing to get what she believes is hers. While Devin attempts to mend the rift between she and Una, she is distracted and unaware that some enemies are closer than imagined. With Tristan no longer an ally, Devin and Oran are the ones to steer Ravenlough from harm's way.
Shocking alliances are formed as the players stand strong in their positions or find new ones to get what they want.
Devin must rely on her strength and fortitude to keep Ravenlough under her authority.
