Helen is in the early stages of labour. Rob is impatient when he can’t get through to Pat on the phone, so Ursula goes round to find out more. As she arrives, Pat is answering the phone to Tony. He tells her that Helen has pre-eclampsia and has gone for an emergency caesarean. As Helen comes round from the anaesthetic, Peggy tells her the baby’s fine and everything is all right. A sobbing Helen replies: “No, it’s not.” Ursula’s touched when Rob says he’s naming the baby after her father, Gideon Robert Titchener. Helen has difficulty breastfeeding. She thinks the baby looks like Rob. Tom apologises to Kirsty for leaving her at the altar. Tony tells Peggy that Helen doesn’t seem interested in the baby. Matthew visits Pip to explain…
