Her latest is about an “internationally famous” film star named Claudette Wells, who at the height of her career stormed off set, and now lives – secretly – in a derelict house in Ireland. She has a husband, Brooklyn-born linguist Daniel (one of several narrators), but their marriage is in crisis.
