Stuttgart, Germany Floods and lightning strikes: Heavy rains and thunderstorms have swept across northern Europe in the past week, causing devastating flooding in parts of Germany, Belgium and northern France, and leaving at least five people dead. The worst of the flooding was in the Stuttgart region of Baden-Württemberg, where four people died, including a 13-year-old girl. In the town of Braunsbach, a river burst its banks, sweeping away cars and smashing them into shop windows.
