Twenty people who attended lockdown-breaking parties in Downing Street and Whitehall are being issued with fixed penalty notices, the Metropolitan Police said this week. However, it said it would not be disclosing their identities; nor did it reveal which gatherings they’d attended. In total, 100 people, including Boris Johnson, were sent legal questionnaires as part of Operation Hillman. A spokesman for the PM said that he had not been fined, but that No. 10 would make it known if he, or Cabinet Secretary Simon Case, received a penalty in the future. Asked whether the PM had misled Parliament, in claiming that no lockdown rules had been broken, the spokesman said that the PM had always “set out his understanding of the events”.…
