GOLF Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland won the PGA Tour Championship on August 28. In the final round, he came back from a six-stroke deficit to beat American Scottie Scheffler, the world’s current number one golfer. It was the biggest final-round comeback in the Tour Championship. The event was also the end of the season-long FedExCup tournament. McIlroy won that title for the third time. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL On August 26, Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon was named the WNBA Coach of the Year. Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream was named Rookie of the Year. ULTIMATE DISC The New York Empire beat the Chicago Union, 22–14, to win the American Ultimate Disc League Championship on August 28. The Empire finished the season undefeated.
