I greatly admired and respected Queen Elizabeth II of the UK, who died last week at age 96 (p2–3). Although she became queen at the young age of 25, it seemed to me that she was wise from the start. She will be remembered for being one of the longest-reigning monarchs in world history and for her steadfast devotion to her responsibilities and her family—along with her fondness for corgis, horses, and colorful hats. I hope our coverage will help you understand more about her long and influential life.
