BASKETBALL In the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) playoffs on September 8, the Connecticut Sun beat the defending champions, the Chicago Sky, 72–63, to advance to the finals. In Game 1 of the finals on September 11, the Las Vegas Aces beat the Sun, 67–64. Aces star A’ja Wilson, the WNBA’s Most Valuable Player of 2022, had 24 points and 11 rebounds. The Aces’ Chelsea Gray had 21 points and three assists. MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL On September 12, the Los Angeles Dodgers became the first team to clinch a playoff spot with a 6–0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
