Research shows gardening boosts mood

Scientists studying the effects of gardening found that participating in the activity twice a week can improve mental health. A team from the University of Florida studied 32 women between the ages of 26 and 49 who did not have any ongoing medical conditions. None of the women had gardened before. The researchers split the women into two groups. One group participated in gardening, while the other group took art classes. Both groups took part in their assigned sessions twice a week for four weeks. During the gardening sessions, the women performed tasks such as planting seeds, transferring plants to new pots, and tasting edible plants.
