Destination for dinosaur fans

The new Edelman Fossil Park and Museum has life-size animal depictions, immersive experiences, and a quarry for digging.

In 1858, the world’s first nearly complete dinosaur skeleton, a hadrosaurus, was found in New Jersey. Eight years later, a dryptosaurus—a type of Tyrannosaur—was found about 10 miles away. About a mile from there, in Mantua Township, the Edelman Fossil Park and Museum of Rowan University will open on March 29. The museum was built next to a quarry where experts have recovered more than 100,000 fossils of marine and land animals. “We have one of the most incredible windows in the world into the last moments of the dinosaurs,” paleontologist and geologist Kenneth Lacovara, the museum’s founding executive director, told The Week Junior.
